Insurance Data Trust
Trust and transparency in insurance data

Insurance data
you can trust.

Data you can trust. Data you can insure.

Insurance runs on information about people and businesses. Too often, the people it describes never see who holds it, who uses it, or why. We think that should change, and we think the industry can change it together.

The problem

Data about people moves without them.

An application is filled in once, then re-typed by the next party, and the one after that. Loss runs, exposures and personal details are copied between systems, packaged and resold. Each step may be legal. Very few of them are visible to the insured, the agency, or the business the data is about.

The result is a market where accuracy erodes with every copy, where nobody can say for certain who has seen a record, and where trust is assumed rather than earned.

The principle

Three commitments.

Every record has an owner

Data about a person or a business belongs, first, to them. Everyone else holds it on their behalf.

Every access is visible

When a record is read, shared or used, that event is logged where the owner can see it.

Sharing happens with consent

Data moves when the owner agrees to it. When the industry learns from data in aggregate, it does so anonymously.

Custodian, not judge

One record. Many voices. No judge.

Today the same insurance facts are typed, checked and filed again and again, by every agency, carrier, MGA and regulator who needs them. Every copy costs money, and every copy can disagree.

One source of truth

A policy, a loss or a payment is recorded once and verified once. Everyone with a right to see it reads the same record.

Everyone can report in

Agencies, carriers, MGAs, insureds and regulators can all add to the record. Where two parties disagree, both views are kept, side by side.

Custodian, not judge

We keep the record safe and the access log honest. We don't decide who is right, set prices or rank anyone.

More on how the record works

For insureds

Your record, in your hands.

If you're insured, the record is about you, so you should be able to see it.

See your own data

Your policies, claims and payment history in one place, through InsureBio.

See who looked

Every access to your record is logged: which company, when, and why.

Say yes or no

Your data is shared with your consent, and you get a receipt each time it's used.

Fix what's wrong

Spot a mistake? Report it into the record. Your view stays on file next to theirs.

Take it with you

Changing agents or carriers doesn't mean starting over. Your verified history comes with you.

Claim your record

Claiming your record on InsureBio is open now. The access log, consent receipts, corrections and portability described here are launching with Voyager.

The call

A standard the market joins.

The Insurance Data Trust is a neutral home for organizations that want to hold insurance data openly. It starts with a short, public pledge. Agencies, MGAs, carriers, reinsurers, vendors and regulators can all sign. Signatories are listed once confirmed.
